A Dialogue between Man & Cyclone – ‘My Trysts with Nature’ Series

Warning : This is a loooong poem ! But I thought it is relevant now . Thanks .

Cyclone at the Bay of Bengal

Cyclone over the Bay of bengal

Cries Man, ” Enough Please “

” O Cyclone, Give us a break “‘ ;

” Let this lashing of yours cease ,

We’re in trouble, apply your brake ” .

Retorts Cyclone, ” You’re the cause ,

O Man, You’ve made me rampant “;

” You’ve destroyed the delicate balance,

That preserves this fragile environment ” .

Alleges Gale, ” Earth needs the rain,

To sustain herself, you and all ” ;

” Water’s absence her energies drain,

So her drought I’ve come to stall ” .

Devastation

Flooded Roads, Fallen Trees – Just a sampler

 Implores Man, ” But mankind suffers ” ,

” Our lives have been put on hold ;

Degree of each one’s sorrow differs ” ;

“Flooded are our fields and roads” ;

He wails, ” Destroyed are parks and homes,

Diseased are our crops and Children ,

Closed are the schools and stores ,

Deceased have our cattle and Kindred ” .

” Well, you destroy the trees “, asserts Cyclone ,

” You pollute the lakes, seas and rivers ,

And even deplete the protective ozone ,

Your assault on this earth sends shivers  ”.

” You selfishly destroy forest and coast,

And upset the ecosystem of the ocean ,

You foolishly use up the resources most ,

With your squinty, myopic vision “.

Pounds on ” You disturb nature’s cycles ,

Reclusive wildlife you greedily hunt and dine ;

You make mammoth, gas-guzzling vehicles

The mighty mountains too you violently mine ” .

“Avariciously you horde unlimited wealth “

Chides Cyclone, ” You make arms to annihilate ;

Hence, lost is Nature’s and Man’s Health

Why do you the apocalypse accelerate ? ” .

” You refuse to learn from your mistakes,

You consume with greed and arrogance ;

Very high for man are nature’s stakes “

Warns, “Henceforth remember these lessons ” .

Uprooted

Uprooted – Lives & Livelihoods

” We have realized this Universe’s worth “

Repents Man, ” We’ll clear up this ugly mess ,

We’ll protect and nourish our living Earth ,.

We’ll conserve for our Kids this Cosmos ” .

Relents Cyclone, “Good ! Do always remember ,

You do not own this wonderful Creation ” ;

Smiles, ” You are here on a trip for Fun & Leisure ,

Enjoy and foster your World’s Evolution ! “

~~~~~~
Yes, We Will. Friends, We really don’t have a choice !
Lets slow down and listen to Nature’s Sweet Voice !!
  1. Thought-provoking poem. The comment for the picture of the uprooted tree “Uprooted – Lives and Livelihoods” is brilliant, ‘coz the cyclone does exactly that. The people displaced due to the floods and living in shelters can relate more to the truth in that.
  2. Good thought. Nice expressions. I like the words” This wonderful creation does not belong to you. You are here to spend some. Enjoy but don’t spoil” Good. keep it up.
