It is the beginning of the school year
Kids excitedly run hither and thither ;
The corridors in a jiffy liven up again
To teeny-tiny footsteps as light as rain !
The big mango tree sways in anticipation
After resting amply in a lonely vacation ;
The schools of fish pout their lips
To kiss the kids and get some chips !
The bunny rabbits happily hippity-hop
Little heads in response bobbity-bob !
My jolly-duo see their friends
And jump in leaps and bounds !
The tiny tots are a bit apprehensive
And their smiling parents pensive ;
Some students have grown taller
Most have just become naughtier !
All the staff from driver to security
Go around helping kids affectionately !
Zealous teachers in earnest organize
Order , out of the chaotic students’ maze !
Principal addresses the school assembly
Children listen in silence, surprisingly !
Later, students to their classes troop
For parents it is a rare photo-op
Yet another new school year
Commences in earnest here ;
A year of studies, sports and fun
And much more under the sun !
Such joy to see faces so innocent
Kids are gifts real magnificient !
With a smile as I walk out of there ,
Little voices resound sweet and pure !
